I was very happy to come across this site and see that my sister Lisa Berls had been listed & recognized in the Memorials section and that her friends and classmates had taken the time to remember her.

Lisa went to school and became an LVN. She married her husband Bill Mercer in 1977 and stayed together for approx 32 years until she passed. Lisa and Bill raised their family in La Crescenta and her kids went to La Crescenta Elementary, JrHi & CVHS.

She was very active in her kids sport activities, mostly baseball. Lisa had a great sense of humor, loved to sew, animals, arts & crafts, cooking and her family meant everything to her.

The last few years of her life she took in a friend of her daughter Molly, Candis. Candis needed help, a roof and a mom & Lisa stepped up to the plate. She was the most amazing mother, supportive wife, there for her friends and the best sister one could ever want. Two years before she died, I moved to Washington but I think the Lord gave me a push and I was lucky enough to go down to CA to visit her and her family along with some friends. Lisa died a week after my return home. That was the last time I saw her....she got sick within a couple days and died before a week was up.

School Story:

St Bede's, La Canada Elementary, FIS, LCHS, Glendale College.

Since Lisa and I hung out together so much, we shared many of the same friends. One memory was when we drove to see "The Breathing Bush" in Burbank (I think Nic, Kathy Vincent & Christie Westlund and myself.) Kathy Vincent got so freaked out, she turned to run like hell and totally knocked Lisa to the ground. We were all laughing to hard -- I took a pic and still have it. We had lots of parties at our house.

I remember once in FIS, her and Lisa Castagna (known as Lisa & Lisa) decided to run away to KRLA radio in Pasadena and wanted the DJ to take them in to live with him in his house in Malibu. They were missing till way after dark when the Montrose Mounties were called in.

I would love to hear from any of you who knew and remember Lisa. I see so many familiar names and faces. You can also find me on FB (Georgie Eggleston)
