John Svendsen

In October of 2017 I retired from pastoral ministry and moved with Susie to Portland, Oregon.

The main factor driving this decision was the discovery that I have 4 stage cancer (colo-rectal that has metastasized to my liver and lungs). According to an oncologist I might have about three years left to live.

What has kept me in a joyful peace, however, is knowing that my Savior and Friend, Jesus Christ has already met my greatest need through His sacrifice on the cross where He took the punishment and paid the penalty for all of my wrongs. So I'm good to go (and it's not because I'm good!).

In the meantime, we are enjoying the Great Pacific Northwest where I continue to do some preaching and teaching; as well as having the opportunity to read, play with my cat and love my wonderful wife.

I truly hope that everything is well with all of you. I look forward to our next class reunion!
