Hi All-
Karen may have posted this on the site somewhere...
Lou's life celebration will be on Sat., Sept. 26. It will be in the Lodge Lounge at the Rose Bowl from 2 - 5.
Parking is free by Gate F. Lou's family wants this to be casual in Lou's honor. Hawaiian shirts for the men, or just relaxed and casual, the way Lou liked it.
Hope to see you there.
Hi- to let everyone know... Julie, Lou's wife contacted and said there will be a get together in his memory on the 26th of September... I'll post the details when they are set.
Everyone knew that Lou was one of the strongest guys around. Very sweet and funny guy, but don't get on his bad side. At the 35 year reunion we were talking and I said: "Hey Lou, remember the time when we were around 12, we were wrestling out in your front yard and I got you in the behide-the-back dreaded scissor hold, and you yelled "UNCLE!"?" He gave me this look and said, "Yeah right, what are you talkin' about Skin & Bones Swanson?" I said, " Yeah, I remember how proud I felt taking you, Muscle Man Melillo down!" Well 5 years later at the 40 year reunion we saw each other and he brought it up again saying, "What was that crazy... NO WAY, story you concocted last time I saw you?"
Lou was always a lot of fun with a BIG personality who will be missed.
I met Louie when I was 8. His dad was my first little league baseball coach. We had a great year. Louie was our best player. We were on the All Star team together. I knew him throughout elementary school, even though he was a LC Elementary kid and I was an Oak Grove Elementary kid, through sports at the YMCA. And then we were everyday friends at FIS and played football together at LCHS. Louis was a hard nosed athlete. He was tough. He was also one of those characters in life who are always finding a way to make things interesting. He was also very funny. While I am one who believes we will all see each other after this life, I am saddened to realize that the next time we have a class reunion Louie will not be there. He would have made it a little more interesting, and fun. God bless him and his friends and family.
So sorry to hear of Lou's passing. Last time we were together was after our 40th high school reunion. Barb Ryburn, who had recently moved down to help her husband pastor their Covina church, invited some of us over for lunch after attending their church service. We sat around her patio table sharing old times and our journey with Christ. May we have even deeper gratitude for living another day on earth before our passing. Life is so short!
